Location: Roswell, GA
Pay: $190,000 - $200,000 + $15,000 Annual Bonus
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance Citizenship Requirement: U.S. citizenship required
Position Summary
The Director of Business Development will lead strategic growth initiatives in the aerospace sector with a primary focus on turbojet engine programs and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. This role is responsible for identifying and shaping emerging opportunities, driving competitive capture strategies, and cultivating long-term relationships that support the company’s engine development, sustainment, and modernization portfolios.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical and market expertise in military aerospace systems, at least 10 years of experience supporting DoD programs, and a proven history of securing major aerospace contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Development
- Develop, implement, and manage strategic business development plans for turbojet engine programs within the U.S. defense aerospace sector.
- Identify future capability needs aligned to DoD priorities, including propulsion upgrades, next‑generation engines, and sustainment initiatives.
- Conduct competitive assessments, evaluate market dynamics, and maintain a long‑range opportunity pipeline.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships across key DoD organizations (USAF, Navy, DARPA, program offices).
- Serve as the primary customer interface for discussions involving turbojet engine requirements, program planning, and acquisition schedules.
- Represent the company at industry events, technical working groups, and government meetings.
Capture Management & Proposal Leadership
- Lead full-lifecycle capture activities, including shaping requirements, developing teaming strategies, defining pricing approaches, and positioning the company competitively.
- Oversee proposal development in partnership with engineering, contracts, finance, and executive leadership.
- Ensure risk assessments—technical, financial, and schedule—are integrated into capture strategies.
Internal Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner closely with engineering teams to align customer needs with internal R&D priorities and product roadmaps.
- Deliver executive-level briefings, business cases, and go/no‑go recommendations for major pursuits.
- Mentor business development managers and guide capture teams to high-performance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in business development, program management, or technical leadership supporting DoD aerospace programs.
- Proven experience within the aerospace industry.
- Demonstrated success leading major DoD captures, proposals, or contract wins.
- Strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes (FAR/DFARS, lifecycle phases, requirements development).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
- U.S. citizenship required due to the nature of the work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established network across government, military stakeholders, and industry partners.
- Direct experience working with USAF or other service branches on interceptor, drone, missile, or aircraft development programs.
- Background in turbine engine development, sustainment, test operations, or system integration.
- Strategic thinker capable of influencing both technical and non‑technical groups.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and effective in fast-paced environments.
- Strong business acumen paired with technical understanding of propulsion systems.
