SUMMARY
Working under the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will supervise and coordinate all activities associated with facility production lines. This individual will be responsible for developing and motivating a team of hourly employees to deliver safe, quality, and cost-effective production in accordance with Engelman’s standards. The successful candidate will be a well-respected people leader, natural problem-solver, and have an entrepreneurial drive to overcome unexpected obstacles on the fly. Employees in this position may interact with their leader when needed to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require their leader’s advanced approval, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.
- ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meets all business needs while upholding quality standards. Verifies that information input into company software is accurate and complete.
- Builds and maintains a team of focused and engaged employees. Supervises, trains, and mentors. Meets regularly with employees to set goals, give feedback, and monitor progress.
- Engages in daily partnership and collaboration with other internal teams. Notifies maintenance department of equipment problems and issues in a timely manner.
- Creates and executes strategies to improve performance for all metrics (safety, quality, etc.)
- Audits continuous improvement activities for effectiveness and sustainability. Leads improvement projects and coaches team on improvement strategies.
- Uses data to recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Acts as a Safety champion, ensuring that team culture embodies a “safety first, safety always” attitude with policies, procedures, and accountability to protect the safety of employees.
- Ensures compliance with all Engelman’s policies and procedures (Safety, EEO, Sexual Harassment, Quality, etc.)
- Cultivates trust and buy-in from their team by showing a level of urgency, respect, and persistence as if they truly “own” the business.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.
- BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)Required – Previous experience in food/beverage manufacturing. Minimum of 2 years of bakery/production experience
- Required – Proficiency with all MS Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Required – Bilingual English/Spanish.

- Preferred – Working knowledge of Autonomous Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance.
- ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE)Proficient ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English.
- Proficient ability to write routine quality assurance reports and correspondence in English.
- Proficient ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.
- Expert ability to activate and amplify company values.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance from co-worker and/or mechanical devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to wet and/or hot, humid conditions. Employee will be handling items that may be very hot. The noise level is usually moderate.
