Pre‑Production Engineer

Location: Charlestown, IN

About the Role

This role supports new product launch activities from concept through full production. You will coordinate schedules, design changes, materials, documentation, and cross‑functional communication to ensure all pre‑production requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage part schedules and timelines for customer projects.
• Oversee products from initial concept through manufacturing and post‑delivery support.
• Prepare new product schedules and coordinate pre‑production activities.
• Handle new material processes, including MSDS and IMDS updates.
• Ensure product designs meet customer standards, internal standards, and engineering principles.
• Evaluate design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
• Communicate with customers, suppliers, and international teams regarding technical updates and changes.
• Support equipment setup requirements and coordinate documentation across internal departments.
• Collaborate with quality and production teams to meet customer requirements.
• Provide weekly status updates to the Engineering Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of plastic injection molding experience.
• Understanding of automotive manufacturer design and quality requirements.
• Strong project or program management skills.
• Knowledge of basic statistical methods.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Tooling knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 20% during peak periods.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand/walk more than 50% of an 8‑hour shift.
• Finger and hand dexterity for 40% of the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must wear safety shoes.
