About David Energy
David Energy is creating a new kind of power company. Traditional Retail Electricity Providers (REPs) are outdated, opaque, and painful for customers to engage with. We use software to monitor our customers' real-time energy usage, and we aggregate and analyze that data to maximize the value they get from their energy assets – batteries, EVs, HVAC systems and other distributed energy resources (DERs) via participation in energy markets. Our mission is to run the grid on clean energy 24/7.
About David Energy
David Energy is creating a new kind of power company. Traditional Retail Electricity Providers (REPs) are outdated, opaque and painful for customers to engage with. Our software platform aggregates and analyzes our customers’ real-time energy usage to maximize the value they get from their energy assets – batteries, EVs, HVAC systems and other distributed energy resources (DERs) – via participation in energy markets. Our mission is to give energy customers greater transparency and control while creating a cheaper, cleaner, more reliable electricity grid.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, process-driven Retail Energy Ops Lead to lead and scale our electricity back-office operations. You’ll be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate customer enrollment, meter data processing, and billing across our national retail energy footprint. This role is mission-critical: you’ll serve as the operational engine that powers our customer experience, revenue cycle, and regulatory compliance.
Initially reporting to the COO, you’ll work cross-functionally with internal teams (Strategic Operations, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Finance, and Compliance) and external vendors and utility partners to continuously improve the systems, processes, and data flows that support customer onboarding, billing, and market interactions. We're looking for someone who thrives in complexity, loves solving root-cause issues, and brings a continuous improvement mindset to everything they touch.
What You’ll Do
Own the day-to-day execution of enrollment and billing processes across all retail energy markets in which we operate (currently NYISO, NE-ISO, PJM, and ERCOT)
Oversee and continuously improve the accuracy and timeliness of enrollment workflows, usage data validation, and customer invoicing
Monitor key operational KPIs, identify anomalies or failures, and lead triage and resolution efforts
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to design and implement automation, error-handling, and reporting features in our internal systems
Manage and evolve our relationship with billing and EDI partners, including performance oversight, vendor coordination, and project implementation
Work closely with Regulatory and Compliance teams to ensure all enrollment and billing processes align with regulatory requirements and market rules
Develop scalable SOPs and process documentation to support training, continuity, and audits
Support expansion into new territories and products by building operational workflows that are compliant, customer-centric, and ready to scale
Lead and mentor a small team of operations analysts and/or specialists
Who You Are
5–8+ years of experience in retail energy operations, ideally within enrollment, billing, or EDI/data management
Deep familiarity with U.S. deregulated electricity markets (New York and Texas experience strongly preferred)
Strong systems thinking and analytical mindset—comfortable with databases, large data sets, and process mapping
Experience working cross-functionally with technical teams and external vendors
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through—you don’t let things fall through the cracks
Proven track record of building processes, improving systems, and reducing operational errors or costs
Strong written and verbal communication skills—able to translate complex problems for non-technical stakeholders
-
Prior experience managing or mentoring a team is a plus
